Sotomayor V. Reverse Discrimination

The Supreme Court has overturned a previous decision made by Justice nominee Sonja Sotomayor.  She had ruled in an earlier case that the city of New Haven, Conn. was correct in not promoting any of the 19 qualified firemen.

The firemen claimed “reverse discrimination” against the city of New Haven.  Sotomayor ruled in favor of the city, effectively saying there is no such thing as discrimination against white people.  Sotomayor has made statements in the past claiming that a Latina women could make better judgements than a white man.   Sotomayor stated, “”I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”   This statement is discriminatory and should be considered so by all.

Based on her comments and ruling it is clear that Sotomayor is a racist.  I don’t believe it so called ‘reverse discrimination’, but I do believe that discrimination is real.  It is not right nor is it fair to say that only white people can be racist or practice discrimination.  Everyone has the capacity to practice discrimination, but it is an act of cowardice.  Racism and discrimination are the crutch for those who want to play the victim.

Sotomayor is a “victim”.  She has played this role her whole life, but what is she a victim of?  She has made it to the top.  If her senate hearings go well, she will be a memeber of the supreme court, something only 110 other individuals can claim.  If she truly was a victim of racism and discrimination she would be 111th justice to the U.S. Supreme Court.
